Cons

  • Connecting to a fitness band requires multiple steps

Fitpro connects with a wide variety of fitness bands to help you monitor a wide variety of metrics related to your health. This might make some people wonder exactly which fitness band the app was designed for. That question highlights one of the app's most impressive features. It isn't tied down to any single platform or company. The app will instead work with a wide variety of different fitness bands from an equally impressive range of companies.

Linking your fitness band to the app couldn't be any easier. Of course, there are a few caveats that stem from the sheer amount of hardware supported by the app. It's best to begin by trying to connect your fitness band to your phone through a standard Bluetooth connection. You can do this in the same way that you'd connect new Bluetooth earbuds to your phone. Once that's finished you can launch Fitpro. It should notice the paired band. But it might ask you to disconnect and reconnect your device.

At this point, Fitpro will direct you to a special website. Users will need to register an account that will be used to store and manage data from the app. Once that step has been completed you simply need to use the new login with the Fitpro app. From that point on the app will collect all available fitness metrics from your device.

The exact nature of this data will vary on a case-by-case basis. But there are a few universals that are typically supported by almost every fitness band. Step counts are one of the biggest reasons why people buy fitness bands in the first place. As such it's no surprise that the app does a great job of recording that data. It can essentially act as a pedometer to track how much you've walked in any given day. In fact, this will be one of the first things you see on launching the app after it's been successfully connected to your fitness band.

The number of steps you've taken every day will be shown in a large font at the top of the app's main display. Directly below the step count, you'll see how that translates into the number of km you've traversed and how many calories it's burned. If your fitness band supports it you'll also see information about the elevation changes encountered during your day.

You can also tell the app to show you a more detailed analysis of your recent walks. This will bring up a map with your paths overlayed on top of it. This can give you a better idea of just how many calories you're burning during a walk between two points. If your fitness band supports sleep monitoring the app will even show you how many hours of sleep you had on any given night.
